The Foundation is hosted in Palazzo Marignoli which owes its present look to the marquis Filippo Marignoli di Montecorona (1809-1898): he was a banker and senator of the Kingdom of Italy, a well-known numismatic, and the promoter of the building of Spoleto’s Teatro Nuovo – the city’s main opera house – and of the large palace on the Corso in Rome. In the palazzo in Spoleto, he commissioned a series of painted rooms, recently published as the masterpiece of Mariano Piervittori. The artistic cycle is an outstanding example of mid XIX century taste in central Italy.
